disposition

Innate character tendency

Disposition has two jobs, corresponding to the primary meanings of its underlying verb dispose.

Someone’s disposition is the way they tend to be, or the way they are habitually: Sheila has such a sunny disposition.

Your disposition toward something is your attitude toward it. Disposition can also mean the disposing of something—that is, the getting rid of it or the dealing with it: An official will oversee the disposition of the company’s assets.
