condenser

Gas-to-liquid converter

A condenser is a device that transforms gas or vapor into liquid, typically through cooling.

In refrigeration and air conditioning, the condenser releases heat from compressed refrigerant.

In chemistry, a condenser cools vapors during distillation.

The word also names the lens system in a microscope that concentrates light onto a specimen, and older electrical components now usually called capacitors.
