concave lens
Thinner at center
A concave lens is thinner at the center than at the edges, causing light rays passing through it to spread apart.
This diverging effect makes objects viewed through the lens appear smaller.
Concave lenses correct nearsightedness in eyeglasses and appear in peepholes, camera systems, and laser equipment.
Contrast with convex lenses, which converge light.
