condensers

Gas-to-liquid converters

Condensers are devices that condense—converting vapor to liquid or compressing something into denser form.

In refrigeration and air conditioning, a condenser releases heat from refrigerant gas, turning it back to liquid.

In chemistry labs, a condenser cools vapor to collect liquid distillate.

Condenser also names the lens system in a microscope that concentrates light on a specimen, and an older term for capacitor in electrical circuits.
