channeling

Conveying via medium

Channeling is directing something through a particular course or medium.

You might channel water through pipes, channel funds into a project, or channel energy toward a goal: She channeled her anger into activism.

In spiritual contexts, channeling means serving as a conduit for spirits or supernatural entities, supposedly allowing them to speak through you.

More loosely, to channel someone is to evoke their style or essence: He's really channeling his inner James Dean.
