culvert

Under-road tunnel

A culvert is a tunnel or pipe that channels water under a road, railroad, or embankment.

Culverts manage drainage and prevent flooding by allowing streams or runoff to pass beneath infrastructure rather than over it: The creek flows through a concrete culvert under the highway.
