reiki
Japanese palm healing
Reiki is an alternative healing practice in which a practitioner channels energy through their hands to promote physical or emotional well-being.
Developed in Japan in the early twentieth century, it involves light touch or hovering hands over the body: She went for a reiki session to help with her anxiety.
The practice has no scientific basis but remains popular in wellness communities. (Capitalized Reiki is the standard form.)
