uplink

Ground-to-satellite connection

An uplink is a transmission sent from Earth to a satellite or spacecraft, or the equipment and channel used for such transmission.

The term contrasts with downlink, which travels the opposite direction.

By extension, uplink describes any data transfer from a local device to a central or remote system: The field team uplinked their findings to headquarters.
