arris
Sharp architectural ridge
An arris is the sharp edge formed where two surfaces meet at an angle, especially in architecture and carpentry.
The term applies to the edge of a beam, the corner where two walls join, or the ridge between flutes on a classical column: The mason beveled the arris to prevent chipping.
