aqueduct of Sylvius
Cerebral fluid passage
The aqueduct of Sylvius is a narrow channel in the brain connecting the third and fourth ventricles, allowing cerebrospinal fluid to flow between them.
Also called the cerebral aqueduct.
Blockage causes dangerous fluid buildup and hydrocephalus.
Named for the 17th-century Dutch anatomist Franciscus Sylvius.
