Upstate New York mountains

Catskill refers to a mountainous region in southeastern New York State, part of the Appalachian chain.

The Catskills became famous as a resort destination, particularly for Jewish vacationers from New York City in the mid-20th century—the so-called "Borscht Belt" where many comedians launched careers.

We rented a cabin in the Catskills for the summer.
