antrum

Anatomical sinus space

An antrum is a cavity or chamber within the body, especially in bone.

The term appears most often in anatomy, referring to specific hollow spaces: the maxillary antrum is a sinus cavity in the cheekbone, and the gastric antrum is the lower portion of the stomach.

Plural: antra or antrums.
