paranasal
Near the nose
Paranasal means situated near or alongside the nose.
The term appears almost exclusively in the phrase paranasal sinuses—the air-filled cavities in the skull bones surrounding the nasal passages.
These include the frontal, maxillary, ethmoid, and sphenoid sinuses, which drain into the nose and are prone to infection and inflammation.
