War of 1812
Madison's British conflict
The War of 1812 was a military conflict between the United States and Great Britain, fought from 1812 to 1815.
Causes included British interference with American shipping and impressment of American sailors into the Royal Navy.
The war produced no clear victor and changed no borders, but it cemented American national identity and ended British-allied Native American resistance in the Northwest.
The conflict gave Americans "The Star-Spangled Banner" and the burning of Washington.
