Duke of Wellington
Napoleon's British nemesis
Arthur Wellesley, first Duke of Wellington, was a British military commander who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo in 1815 and later served as Prime Minister.
The title persists through his descendants.
Wellington boots (wellies) are named for him, as is New Zealand's capital.
The Iron Duke was his nickname, reflecting his stern, unyielding character.
