USS Constitution

Boston's historic warship

USS Constitution is a wooden-hulled frigate in the United States Navy, launched in 1797 and still officially in commission—the oldest commissioned warship afloat.

She earned the nickname "Old Ironsides" during the War of 1812 when British cannonballs appeared to bounce off her thick oak hull.

The ship is now a museum vessel in Boston Harbor.
