Old Ironsides
Boston Harbor veteran
Old Ironsides is the nickname of the USS Constitution, a wooden-hulled warship launched in 1797 and still commissioned in the U.S.
Navy.
The name comes from cannonballs reportedly bouncing off her hull during the War of 1812.
She remains afloat in Boston Harbor as the world's oldest commissioned naval vessel.
