Senior naval officer
A commodore is a naval officer ranking above captain and below rear admiral, though the rank isn't always in active use.
The title also applies to the senior captain of a shipping line or the presiding officer of a yacht club.
The commodore of the sailing club welcomed new members at the annual dinner.
