Stages
Parts of processes
Stages are distinct phases in a process or development: the stages of grief, the stages of a disease, the stages of a rocket separating during launch.
A stage is also a raised platform for performance—actors take the stage, politicians share one during debates.
The theatrical sense extends to any arena of action: the world stage, setting the stage for conflict.
To stage something is to organize or present it: stage a protest, stage a comeback.
A stagecoach was named for traveling in stages between stations.
