chapters

Novel's numbered parts

Chapters are the main divisions of a book, typically numbered or titled, each covering a distinct portion of the narrative or subject matter.

Beyond books, chapter extends to any distinct phase or period: a new chapter in her life, the final chapter of the Cold War.

A chapter is also a local branch of an organization: the Seattle chapter of the Sierra Club.
