Amun

Egyptian divine king

Amun is an ancient Egyptian deity who rose to become the supreme god of the Egyptian pantheon during the New Kingdom period.

Originally a local god of Thebes, Amun merged with the sun god Ra to become Amun-Ra, king of the gods.

His name means "the hidden one," reflecting his nature as an invisible, omnipresent force.

The temple complex at Karnak was his primary cult center.

The pharaoh claimed divine authority as son of Amun.
