Fallujah

Anbar Province city

Fallujah is a city in central Iraq, west of Baghdad in Anbar Province.

It became internationally prominent during the Iraq War, when U.S. forces fought two major battles there in 2004 against insurgents.

The name evokes intense urban combat and controversy over civilian casualties: The siege of Fallujah was one of the bloodiest engagements of the war.
