Bunker Hill
Revolutionary War site
Bunker Hill was the site of an early battle in the American Revolutionary War, fought on June 17, 1775, in Charlestown, Massachusetts.
Though the British technically won by taking the hill, they suffered heavy casualties, and the battle demonstrated that colonial forces could stand against professional British soldiers.
The name has become shorthand for American revolutionary determination and is memorialized by a prominent obelisk monument in Boston.
