Green Zone
Safe diplomatic area
Green Zone refers to a protected or safe area, especially the heavily fortified international zone in central Baghdad established after the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq.
The term has spread to similar secured compounds in conflict areas.
More broadly, a green zone can be any designated safe area: The airport green zone allows meetups for online sales.
Green may also indicate environmental approval or low-risk status on color-coded systems.
