Ural
Europe-Asia boundary
Ural refers to the mountain range in western Russia that forms a traditional boundary between Europe and Asia, stretching roughly 1,500 miles from the Arctic to the Kazakh steppe.
The term extends to the surrounding region, including the Ural River and the broader Ural economic district.
During World War II, Soviet industry was relocated to the Urals to protect it from German advances.
The expedition crossed the Urals into Siberia.
