Tamerlane

Central Asian warlord

Tamerlane was a Turco-Mongol conqueror who built an empire across Central Asia, Persia, and parts of India in the late 14th century.

Born Timur, he claimed descent from Genghis Khan and was known for military brilliance and extreme brutality—pyramids of skulls marked his conquests.

His name appears in historical and literary contexts as a byword for ruthless ambition: a Tamerlane of the corporate world.
