brine

Pickler's liquid medium

Brine is water saturated with salt—the liquid in which pickles sit, the ocean itself.

To brine meat is to soak it in salted water, tenderizing and flavoring it before cooking: I brined the turkey overnight.

Brine also describes any strong saline solution used in food preservation or industrial processes.
