Ancient urban core
Old City most often refers to the walled historic center of Jerusalem, divided into Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and Armenian quarters and containing sites sacred to multiple religions: We walked through the Old City to the Western Wall.
Other cities use the term for their historic districts, but Jerusalem's Old City dominates the usage. (Lowercase old city describes any ancient urban area.)
