kimono

Obi-secured garment

A kimono is a traditional Japanese garment—a long, T-shaped robe with wide sleeves, wrapped left over right and secured with a sash called an obi.

Kimonos are worn for formal occasions, ceremonies, and festivals in Japan.

In Western usage, kimono often refers loosely to any robe-style garment with wide sleeves: She threw on a silk kimono over her pajamas.
