chiton

Ancient Athenian robe

A chiton is a simple garment worn in ancient Greece—a rectangular piece of cloth draped over the body and fastened at the shoulders.

Also, a chiton is a type of marine mollusk with an oval shell made of eight overlapping plates, found clinging to rocks in tidal zones.

The two meanings are unrelated.
