tunica vaginalis
Scrotal serous covering
The tunica vaginalis is the thin membrane surrounding the testicle, forming a sac that allows the testicle to move smoothly within the scrotum.
It derives from the abdominal lining during fetal development when the testicles descend.
Medical conditions affecting it include hydrocele, where fluid accumulates in the sac.
