transits

Goes across something

Transits is the plural of transit, referring to passages or journeys from one place to another.

In astronomy, transits are events where a celestial body passes across the face of another—Venus transiting the sun, or an exoplanet transiting its star: Astronomers detected the planet by observing transits that dimmed the starlight.

The verb form means to pass through or across: The satellite transits overhead twice daily.
