travel

Move between destinations

Travel is a verb meaning to go from one place to another when the distance is relatively far.

You do not travel to the store or to work, but you may travel for work—when you go on a business trip to another city, for example.

Travel is not normally used for journeys undertaken on foot or on a bicycle.

As a noun, travel most commonly designates the activity of going to distant places: After retirement the couple look forward to birding, travel, and volunteer activities.
