wormhole
Cosmic tunnel theory
A wormhole is a hypothetical tunnel through spacetime connecting distant points in the universe—a shortcut that would allow instantaneous travel across vast distances.
The concept comes from physics but thrives in science fiction: The ship entered a wormhole and emerged in another galaxy.
The name evokes a worm's path through an apple, boring straight through rather than crawling around the surface.
