A cold zone is an area kept at low temperatures, typically a refrigerated section in a store or warehouse: The produce is stored in the cold zone.
In emergency response, the cold zone is the safe perimeter outside a hazardous area, where personnel can work without protective equipment—contrasted with the hot zone where danger is present.
