arable

Fit for cultivation

Arable describes land suitable for growing crops.

Arable soil can be plowed and cultivated, as opposed to land that's rocky, waterlogged, or otherwise unsuitable for farming: The river valley contains the region's most arable land.

The word applies to the land itself, not to what's grown on it.
