winter
Snow and ice
Winter is the coldest season of the year, falling between autumn and spring.
In the Northern Hemisphere, it runs roughly from December through February; in the Southern Hemisphere, from June through August.
Winter suggests short days, bare trees, and in many regions, snow and ice.
Figuratively, winter can mean a period of decline or dormancy: the winter of one's life.
To winter somewhere is to spend the cold months there: They winter in Florida.
