summer
Between spring, fall
Summer is the warmest season of the year, falling between spring and autumn.
In the Northern Hemisphere, it runs roughly from June through August; in the Southern Hemisphere, from December through February.
Summer carries associations of vacation, leisure, and outdoor activity: We spent the summer at the lake.
As a verb, to summer somewhere is to spend that season there: The family summers in Maine.
A summer can also describe years of age in poetic or literary contexts: a youth of sixteen summers.
