social studies
History and geography
Social studies is an academic subject taught primarily in elementary and secondary schools that covers history, geography, civics, economics, and related disciplines.
The goal is to prepare students to be informed citizens who understand how societies function and how people interact within communities, nations, and the world.
We learned about the three branches of government in social studies.
Unlike the individual disciplines it draws from, social studies emphasizes connections between them and practical civic knowledge.
