civics
Citizenship education course
Civics is the study of citizenship and government—the rights and duties of citizens, how political systems work, and how individuals participate in democratic processes.
It's a standard subject in American secondary education: We learned about the three branches of government in civics class.
The adjective civic relates to cities or citizenship: civic duty, civic center.
