seaming

Creating stitched joints

Seaming is the act of joining pieces together by creating seams—stitching fabric panels, welding metal sheets, or otherwise connecting edges.

In knitting, seaming joins separately knitted pieces into a finished garment: I hate seaming—I'd rather knit in the round.

In food preparation, seaming is the process of crimping metal lids onto cans.
