forging
Hammering heated iron
Forging is the act of shaping metal by heating and hammering it, or the product of such work: The blacksmith's forging produced a fine blade.
More commonly, forging means creating a fraudulent copy—a forged document, signature, or artwork: The forging of his father's signature got him expelled.
A forging can also be a metal object produced by the forge process.
