sea chart
Sailor's navigation aid
A sea chart is a map designed for marine navigation, showing water depths, coastlines, hazards, and aids to navigation like buoys and lighthouses.
Unlike land maps, sea charts emphasize what's underwater and dangerous: The captain consulted the sea chart before entering the harbor.
Also called a nautical chart.
