scow

Blunt cargo vessel

A scow is a flat-bottomed boat with a blunt bow, used for hauling freight, dredging, or other heavy work in shallow waters.

Scows lack the streamlined hull of conventional boats, built instead for stability and cargo capacity: The garbage scow sat low in the harbor.

The word sometimes appears figuratively for anything ungainly or barge-like.
