scapula

Triangular shoulder bone

The scapula is the shoulder blade—the flat, triangular bone at the back of the shoulder that connects the upper arm to the collarbone.

It serves as an anchor point for muscles controlling arm movement.

The plural is scapulae or scapulas: The massage therapist worked the muscles around my scapulae.
