adduction
Movement toward midline
Adduction is movement of a body part toward the midline of the body—the opposite of abduction.
When you bring your arm back to your side after raising it outward, that's adduction.
The term appears mainly in anatomy and physical therapy: The exercise strengthens the hip adductors.
