tetrapod
Limbed land animal
A tetrapod is a four-limbed vertebrate—the group that includes amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
The term comes from Greek for "four feet," though many tetrapods have modified or lost limbs: whales descend from four-legged ancestors, and snakes are legless tetrapods.
In engineering, a tetrapod is a four-pronged concrete structure used to break wave energy along coastlines.
