ring-tailed lemur
Madagascar's banded prosimian
A ring-tailed lemur is a primate native to Madagascar, easily recognized by its long black-and-white banded tail.
Unlike most lemurs, ring-tailed lemurs spend considerable time on the ground and live in large social groups.
They're among the most familiar lemur species, common in zoos and wildlife documentaries.
