wet nose
Dog's damp sniffer
A wet nose is a sign of health in dogs and some other animals—a cold, moist snout indicating the animal is well.
By extension, wet nose describes someone new or inexperienced, suggesting the innocence of a puppy: He's still a wet nose in this business.
The image overlaps with wet behind the ears.
