prosimian
Loris or tarsier
A prosimian is a primate belonging to the more primitive suborder that includes lemurs, lorises, and tarsiers—distinguished from the "higher" primates (monkeys, apes, and humans).
Prosimians typically have smaller brains relative to body size, elongated snouts, and eyes positioned more to the sides of the head.
Most are nocturnal.
The term comes from Latin roots meaning "before apes," reflecting their place on the evolutionary tree.
